Car Mishap Claims One
One person was killed and five injured in a one car accident last Sunday near Hunters.
Killed was Robert W. Turner, 24, of Spokane. According to the report Turner died from massive internal injuries.
He was a passenger in a car driven by Bryan Reid, also of Spokane. Injured in the mishap were Kathy Newbill, 17, of Hunters: Mark Evenson, 18, of Fruitland and Mark Hudspeth, 21, of Fruitland.
According to Ernie Davis, investigating state trooper, the Reid vehicle was traveling south on Harvey Creek Road, seven miles northeast of Hunters.
Reid apparently turned to talk to a passenger in the back seat, drove off the road on the east side rolling over a steep embankment and coming to rest on the car’s left side. All six occupants were thrown from the vehicle.
Reid had broken ribs, face, and head lacerations, while the others had bumps and bruises, the report said.

Memorial funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 26, 1978, at 11:00 a.m. in the Alvin Chapel, Hazen & Jaeger Funeral, N1306 Monroe St. Dr. William Harper officiating. Burial at Greenwood Memorial Terrace – Spokane, Washington.
