Cynthia Bertenshaw (Smith)

Cynthia Sue [Bertenshaw] Smith, 56, passed away peacefully August 31, 2011 after a lengthy fight with a cancerous brain tumor.

She was born in Spokane on November 19, 1954, to Bill and Arlene Bertenshaw. She was raised and attended school in Spokane. She graduated from Mead High School. Growing up Cindy enjoyed summers at Twin Lakes, Idaho. She spent her whole life in Spokane/Coeur d’Alene raising her family and working for Hecla Mining and later for The City of Liberty Lake. She enjoyed traveling and going on cruises. She was a member and past officer of the North Idaho Enological Society. In the last few years, she was involved in raising funds for the American Brain Tumor Association through events like Joggin for the Noggin.

Cindy is survived by her husband, Brad; her three children, Kyle, Katie and Misty; her parents, Bill and Arlene Bertenshaw; her sisters Jody (Larry) Valadez and Teri (Greg) Barber; two grandchildren, four nieces, a nephew along with many other family members and close friends.

A Celebration of her Life will be held at her home on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 1:30p.m. Donations can be made in her honor through the American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA.org)
